Took a trip out to my fav shooting grounds this weekend (Northern State Hospital) to see what I could see…run red man…run! I have been trying to head out there near the end of each quarter to capture the graffiti before it gets painted over, however, this time I believe I went just a little too late as most had already been painted.

I spotted this little fella hanging about more than once, which I found rather interesting. Made me wonder why the folks who did the covering up saved these guys.
About the selective colour, I decided to not let the entire red man’s “red” come through in post processing. When I brought the entire colour (as in head to toe) through, it just didn’t look right…decided to blend the red in with the B&W and really like the outcome. 😀
Update: Apparently, this is the logo for the independent record label Psychopathic Records (founded by Insane Clown Posse)…Hatchet Man…
…Enjoy

Love this David. I am a huge fan of tags and graffiti and the like, and I have so many shots of them. I like the context in which this was shot showing the sense of the environment in which it was taken.
Interesting piece of graffiti – quirky but kind of cute. The way you processed the colour looks really good.
Thank you Stevie, glad you like the PP. 😀
Perhaps he couldn’t be painted over because he out ran the paint? I would never have guessed the black and red didn’t occur that way, it seems to belong that way.
Thank you Melanie, the full red Hatchet Man just didn’t seem to fit, glad you liked it. 😀
