Back to practicing my Speedlite portraits. What have you guys thought so far? Any tips? Suggestions? I realize it’s a little soft, I couldn’t get Cait to hang around for me to take multiple shots @ different stops. I think I am going to have to get a new model as Cait has been getting a little…hmm, cranky let’s say! Sigh…enjoy!
Info: Canon 580 EX II, manual @ 1/8th power. Shot through a softbox (28×28) designed for Speedlites, camera right.

Lovely portrait. Perfect pairing of photographer and model! She is really blossoming into a beauty isn’t she?
Lovely portrait and I like the subtle smile.
Great portrait David, very well lit!
Thank you very much Jim!
Beautiful! Her personality does shine through. I don’t think it’s “soft” at all the eyes are sharp and you have great catch lights.
Thank you Sandra, I guess I would have liked her mouth a little more sharper…adds to the image I suppose! You know how we are always way to over-critical when it comes to our own work… 😛
Okay, I just looked at it again…It’s me…strike the “soft” comment!
Beautiful portrait of Cait, even with her defiant smile. I think you have really good eyes for capturing portraits. I know there are always wanna be models looking for free prints. Maybe you can advertise on Craigslist for models wanting to build their portfolios.
Great idea Em! Thanx for the wonderful comment. 😀
Just add a +1 to both Martinas comments……great work. Jessica is pretty fed up of me practice portraits on her. I need to bribe her now 🙂
Thanks for the great comments on my blog David. Whenever you are in Edmonton you will have to give me a call and well head out for a photo walk/drive 🙂
Hey Charlie, I will definitely let you know when we head up there, will probably be next summer. 😦 Thank you for the comment.
That is a beautifully lit portrait, and I just love her cheeky expression 🙂 The catch light in her eyes are wonderful, great work with your Speedlite!
Thank you Martina, I’ve been having fun with the Speedlites and portraits. 😀
Great look on her face. Her personality really shines here -its what makes this shot so awesome. Whatever you did, I think it’s a winner.
Thank you Martina. 😀
She is lovely 🙂
Thank you for visiting as well as your comment, we have a feeling we will be in trouble when she get’s older! 😛
