Today’s The Daily Shoot’s assignment is: “It’s the solstice. Make a photo that captures the day for you wherever you are.”
My friend Tom got me thinking about what to shoot for today’s assignment. Since we are on the last stretch of 2010 and 2011 is just around the corner, why not try to capture that especially since the new year has been on my mind! Enjoy the remaining days of 2010 all!

Lovely, evocative shot. I love the light flares!
Thank you, I think the flares add to the image but I really like the path. ๐
Great capture of the mood and lighting.
Thank you Emily, I was really surprised to find this (it’s fairly new to Mt. Vernon…I think)!
I also agree with the ‘mood’ comment. There’s something so inviting about this scene. The colours are vibrant, the lighting is all at once soft and stark, and there is such a splay of alluring lines making this quiet scene busy enough to come alive. It’s also just pretty to look at. ๐
Awww, thanx for the wonderful comments Heather! ๐
Very nice. Captures solitude very well. Like the twinkling lights.
Thanx Nigel, I dig it too. ๐
This is a nice, crisp shot. Good job!
Thanx Jolene!
Awesome shot David.
Love the “mood” in this shot. I think there is too much “empty” feel in the foreground. May be a tighter crop should help.
Nice experimenting with long exposure.
I see what you mean about the empty space. The problem I found that if I cropped the shot more would be the “light star” would be cut off. Sniff. Thanx for the comments Sasi. ๐
