My friend and I went on a photowalk yesterday to my fav place…Northern State Hospital. 🙂 I can’t believe I haven’t really noticed this hydrant before, it’s in a place I’ve been to countless times so there’s really no excuse for it (well, there’s over 700 acres to explore so perhaps I’ll give myself a break).
I thought I might give you guys a break from floral shots for a brief while but not to worry, I’ll post more. 😉 Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and of course…
…Enjoy!

I love this! Great shot. Perspective and DoF are very nice, as is the muted color.
Thank you Carrisa, I really like the low PoV I had going, and I totally love the grass in this image! 🙂
Wonderful shot David. Love the treatment!
Thank you! The green was just too overpowering when I opened the image to process, really glad you like my decision to go with the muted colours!
As soon as I saw the image come up on my reader I knew it was yours, that treatment style is very distinctive, and works very well.
This looks like a vintage hydrant. Next time you visit, think of clearing the grass away and taking detailed photos. There is a market for old fire hydrants.
Hahaha, can you just picture me drudging through the fields trying to carry a heavy hydrant!!
Beautiful work, David! Love the muted colors.
Thank you so very much Gracie, you know me and my muted colours fascination! 😉
I love the details in the man made hydrant and the grasses. Lovely soft colours too.
Thank you very much, it really captured my attention (and I still can’t believe I never noticed it before)!
