Why finally? Simple, I’ve been looking for a tree like this for sometime now and couldn’t believe I happened upon it! Oddly enough, I was out looking for tulip fields and was in a convoy of vehicles…they kept going (silly fools) as I pulled over. 😀 I originally posted this on my Wordless Wednesday site (williamsdavid.net) but just had to share it again here (I typically post different images there and try to not re-post them here).
I didn’t end up with any tulip images (I am certain in the next few weeks I’ll have more than enough) but did end up with this crazy B&W HDR image of my tree!
…Enjoy!

This picture took my breath away! I love the contrast between the cloudy sky and the field, it makes the picture so dramatic and powerful! I have always pictured this shot in my head in color (I don’t know why), but your work might change my mind. Thank you so much for letting me know about this post! I’ll keep hunting for my tree 😉
Great tree, great sky. Something tells me you will be back for more shots over the years, unless it is too far away. I like b&w HDR too – it can really bring up the detail very nicely.
Excellent!
That is an awesome tree!
Thanks Jeff…I still can’t believe I found it!
Spectacular.
Thanks!
Outstanding David! 🙂
Thank you very much Adrian!
What an excellent shot, David! Love how that tree just stands out, and the sky, wow!
Yup…this image has been floating around in my head for sometime now…just happy I actually found it AND the skies were right that day (then again, living here the skies always seem to look like that lately)! 😀
And you got that amazing sky too! Great shot
Thank you so very much Tina! 😀
Great image, I didn’t know it was an HDR until I read your post. I love trees and their personalities and how they invoke feelings in humans.
Gorgeous shot!! Love the processing. Great sky.
I have a couple of trees in my area that I want to photograph, but I haven’t gotten around to it. The problem is that both are along side busy highways. There’s a little room to pullover, but it’s not ideal. I’ll have to figure out how to do it safely. I don’t think my shot will be anywhere near as nice as this. Well done.
Ahhh, I have run into many instances where I would love the shot but…dang highway, I feel the pain! Thanks for sharing and for the comment, greatly appreciated!
What a great image, a very subtle HDR in B&W which I don’t see as much. I love how trees invoke feelings in humans and seem to have their own personality.
It’s funny how folks who do HDR don’t convert to B&W isn’t it? It’s always baffled me why as I love how it looks. 😀
A tree outstanding in its field.
🙂 Thanks Dad
I totally get this – finally stopped, parked, walked to a tree that I love that I pass all the time the other day! This is a beautiful black and white image – very powerful/dramatic! Black and Whites on my blog today too!
Thank you for stopping by and commenting Adrienne, your visit and comment are greatly appreciated! I can’t believe I finally found my tree (yes, I now refer to the tree as mine). 😀
Funny…I pass by this pond with a very cool tree somewhat like this several times a week (for the past 3 years now) and I’ve always wanted to stop and get a picture. But there’s always traffic or I’m running late or something…and yesterday when I passed by I noticed the tree is gone. They cut it down, so I missed my opportunity because I didn’t seize the moment. Glad you grabbed yours while you could!
Ohhhh no, that’s a shame Bonnie! Well, glad I am able to share this one with you, always happy to hear from ya! 😀
