We have Redhill Tulips…and of course, the only reason I knew the name of these suckers is because I took a shot of the sign! Part of my flower workflow is to capture an image of the sign prior to taking that “flower set” so I know what on earth I am shooting. When I move on to the next type of flower, I take a shot of that sign…pretty sneaky eh? The only problem is, there are no signs out in nature…hmmm, sigh.
Hope you are not getting sick of flower shots yet as a have a few more to post. 😛

The texture of the soft flower against the aged wood is great! I guessed daffodil. Lol!
The secret is shooting the signs…that’s the only way I knew the name! 😛
awh, very sweet. Reminds me of the garden at the family’s cottage.
Thank you for the comment, glad it reminded you of your family’s cottage!
Interesting composition. Two contrasting subjects together. I wish there were signs in nature. It’s good to hear I’m not the only one that photographs those signs when they are around. Something I would not do if I was still using film instead of digital.
I think a lot of us shoot signs…I know it helps me (when I remember)!
Great shot, and great idea David! Unfortunately there aren’t any signs in my overgrown garden either, and my wife doesn’t remember what she planted! I need to buy a flower identification book or something 🙂
I’ve been thinking of picking up a book too, let me know if you find a good one. 😀
I don’t know the flowers but that is a great composition…..good one….by the why, I do the same…
Thank you Schleefy!
I shoot signs too. When I’m travelling I shoot the signs so I remember where I was!
I do the same with signs from buildings, statues etc…it’s a great way to shoot that’s for sure!!
