Let’s start off with the fact that Cait has always liked to take pictures. During a visit to a fair last year, she was checking out the photo contest (particularly her age group) and calmly said to me “Daddy, I want to enter next year…I think my pictures are way better!”
So the other day, Cait had a half day at school so I asked my boss (thank you thank you thank you) if I could take a half day as well so Choo (a nickname we have…she has lot’s of nicknames) and I could take our first photo walk. I actually didn’t take too many shots of Cait as I didn’t want her to think the only reason why I wanted her to go was so I could take shots of her!
Cait and I decided to start her own little photo blog (awww, that’s my girl). Now remember, this is really her first time using a DSLR, we have not gone over anything other than “Cait, you have to press the button half way to focus then press all the way to take the image.” I was a little worried the 40d and most of my lenses would be too heavy so I bought her a kit lens (18-55mm) which is SUPER light. As time progresses, we will look at using different glass. π Anyway,Β here it is:Β >>Cait’s PoV<< Enjoy!

An excellent idea, and I love the name of her blog π Go daddy!
So sweet! My four year old inherited our old point and shoot, she’s been doing a fantastic job with it too. Such fun to do something like this together…enjoy!
David, I have to agree with everyone else: I think you’re biggest competitor is very close to home! I think she could teach me a thing or two about technique!
Wow! Cait’s photo’s are amazing! I think she may be teaching us all or a thing or two soon. π
Yea, she rocks. We have another WP photo walk coming up this weekend, guess who’s going? π
Cait’s images are fabulous, she is incredibly talented! And what could be a better past time than go on photo shoots with your daughter. Her portrait is amazing, the vibrant colours and her cheeky smile contrast very well with the grey and wet beach.
Thank you very much Martina, I can’t begin to tell you how much that means to me (of course, when I told Cait she said “Oh cool”…typical 10 year old response)!
Hey, that camera looks familiar! π
Good on you for getting her interested in photography and helping her start up her own blog! You’re such a good dad.
Thank you Jolene, it’s great to read comments like this. π
Love the beret! So artsy looking… she should use this on her business card. It would be great to have her join us on the photo walk. Well David… after looking at her blog, it looks like you are going to have some competition in the family. π
She LOVES hats, we actually picked this one up on the same day we went out. She has to look stylish right? π I will talk with her about joining us, I think it will be a blast!
That’s really sweet! She’s one lucky girl, and you’re one lucky dad π
Do you think you can persuade Cait to share her interesting rock collection with us sometime? Have lots of fun, you two!
I think taking pictures of her rock collection is a great idea, I will talk to her about it. Thank you for stopping by and commenting, hope to see you around again. π
She’s a heart breaker. She’s got amazing talent, you certainly take after her.
She looks like a pro! Go Cait! π
That totally cracked me up Martina! I am very proud of her and LOVED going out for a photo walk, so so so looking forward to more! π
I looked at Cait’s blog – you’re going to have to work to keep up with her. π
π Mike, it was really interesting going on a photo walk with a 10 year old. I found myself watching her go from here to there, checking out rocks (NO idea why she loves “interesting” rocks so much), playing around and just having a good time! I LOVED it. Hey, since she’s now on WP…perhaps one of our WP walks she just might join up! π
When I am doing my art, I try to revert back to thinking like a kid. Meaning, they are not self-conscious and critical about having to be perfect. Therefore, they see beauty and interesting thing freely. π
I love your thinking, I need to start attempting the same thought process!
Looks like a budding photog in the offing…
Good luck Cait!
BTW…love the colors and Cait’s pose for this shot.
Thank you for the comments, I know she had a great time on our walk. I am SO looking forward to more!
