Creative Hand

Today’s The Daily Shoot’s assignment is: “Make a photo today that features a hand in a creative way.”

My disclaimer: All you kidlets out there…do not do this!

Whew, having said that…when I was “younger” I used to do this all the time. Close your fist, click the tab thingy on your lighter while letting the gas go into your palm then…light it up! Now, it looks cool when you do it but man, it’s a bugger to capture those pixels! No worries, nothing burnt, singed, caught on fire or anything else happened save my poor thumb which is now very tender from scrolling the flint on the lighter! Aahhhh, the things I do to capture an image!

    • Thank you for stopping by and I am really glad that you like what you have seen so far! I will be heading over to your blog in a little bit and, don’t even worry about whatever level you are at in photography! We are all learning, and will continue to learn. The important thing is, you are out there doing it! πŸ˜€ It’s amazing what you start to see all around you once you start to dive into photography, it opens a whole new world, simply amazing and beautiful!

    • Thank you Jim. This shot was definitely a lesson in patience! I had the camera on a wireless remote and a 10 second delay. Getting the timing down between the countdown and when I should ignite the lighter was challenging! Out of like 1000’s of shots (okay, more like 80 but it sure seemed like 1000’s), I was only able to get 5 or so shots w/fire! πŸ˜€ I also learned that even though one wears socks out in the garage, your feet will still freeze! lol

  1. I wondered if you might have superimposed this flame during editing, but just read the description. Good thing nothing caught fire. I’m doubting there was even one other shot of someone lighting themselves on fire! Creative take. πŸ™‚
